As Devils Brood

-----------------------------------------------------
Dusk had faded and all that was
was lost within nocturnal realms
Were we fated.. those of us
who'd long worshiped the haunted sun?
( Fallen )... such an evil word
spoken then in whispered myth.
Was it true or but a tale
carried 'pon a demon breath
I shan't believe it to be gone.
The jest is born of deviltry.
This I begged and hoped it wrong.
Alas the wound was planted deep.
Though the sun is black and hollow
still I walk the stolid moor
as devils brood with eyes of sorrow
guarding now the fallen world.
O' that I could turn the clock
or force the wretched hands of fate.
Alas our magic has been lost.
Our love forsaken for greed and hate.

Your words seem to flow with such careless ease... Like honey from my lips, sweet and the slight tinge of bitterness... You never cease to amaze. Your word choice is a delightful treat, and the images... Heaven for the mind. A seemingly destined closure to this, our world. And by the most ridiculous of things... *sighs* Ah, well.

I brood with the devils, as we watch our fate unfold...

Magnificent, satisfying, and of course, completely you. Loving your voice. Thanks once again for sharing, cheri. Searching diligently for your next masterpiece. Peace and love. Au revoir.

This may seem weird but since I read "Paradise Lost." I feel a weird sort of pity for the fallen. People like to stress the idea that humans are forgiven but angels never will be, that we are blessed favorites to our God. I think this poem captures that idea very well.
