She Put It On To Paint

Contributed by Nazmythian on Saturday, 31st March 2007 @ 01:09:35 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

She put it on to paint

My old denim shirt -
thread-bare and faded,
she must have found it
in a way-back, dark, forgotten
corner of my wardrobe…

~ and she put it on to paint.

She’s sentimental like that,
saving certain things
long past their prime,
their serviceable time,
for that they once were mine…

~ and she put it on to paint.

She rolled from the bed,
an image in her head
that commanded canvas.
With blue about her waist,
gently holding sacred space…

~ she put it on to paint.

And long before she announced
that I was her subject,
before she mixed her special color,
or even dipped a single brush,
the image she created was beautiful…

~ and she just put it on... to paint.

Very casual and relaxing Scott in brilliance I have come to trust of you as a poet. I find this a wonderfully admirable write. Your words, your sense of rhythm (the later I especially am envious of) never cease to impress. Wondeful job as always! A breath of fresh air (which I need because this damn pollen is driving me crazy)

BRAVO!

- Daniel

Scotty, this was absolutely stunning. So softly
captivating but sensual in just the right places.

It completely takes my breath-- not only the words,
but the essence of them .. the sentiment that they evoke.

Your skill with the pen, as always, is gratifying
and a pleasure to witness. Beautiful ~

Honest I don't have your shirt...lol
Yes a funny coincidence indeed.
This piece is just another example of your talent. Its content thoughtful and well displayed.
She’s sentimental like that,
saving certain things
long past their prime,
their serviceable time,
for that they once were mine…
I love these lines....

In my head all sorts of scenarios play out in this one as it skirts a seductive potential. There is also a racing pulse underlying the tone here as I kept waiting for you to be miffed at her taking your old shirt but it never quite develops so the feel of this kept me sliding of the edge.

Bravo

Peace
Yang

Naz, you romantic bugger. That was a very sweet and tender write, technically accomplished and a real pleasure to read. This one brought to the surface similar remembrances for me, and the possibility that such feelings can happen again, with the right person.

I especially loved these lines:

With blue about her waist,
gently holding sacred space…

smooth my friend, really smooth.

Naz,
...very romantic and sentimental, I think. Perhaps blue is a favorite color: certainly wrapped in your shirt intensifies her experience of you, her subject. She must feel you look great in denium.

As always, very skillful my friend

This was simply beautiful. As if thoughts ran through your head, down your arm, and straight to your pen. Everyday life has its wonder, every action has its magnificence, and the burden has been cast on the poet to make known this beauty. Well done.
Take care
David

This formed a very nice image in me ol' noggin and I liked it. I was also left wondering what else she may have done after she put it on...
