Standstill

Topic: Lifepoems

Sitting around...
Just waiting for something to happen.
And as the world passes you by,
leaving you behind,
you sit sulking,
realizing that today is already tomorrow.
And you keep hoping and praying
that something will change,
bringing new events,
new experiences.
But when you think of the future,
you just want to stay where you are,
living your slow paced life,
with little worry and cares,
where everything is routine,
and everything feels safe.
Not wanting to move forward,
but hating the feeling of holding back,
stuck in some place of misery,
where everything you do,
is only good enough at that moment.
But the next day when you awake,
none of the really matters anymore,
because it was in the past.
And today is what everyone focuses on,
with tomorrow being the object of attraction.
So what am I going to do today?
Well it doesn’t really matter in the long run,
I may paint a pretty picture,
Read a splendid book,
or even write this poem.
But the sad truth is,
That in a short few days,
weeks, and maybe even months,
the progression of time,
will drown out these words,
those images,
and stories of a world so far away.
No one will remember it,
And even if they go back to memories,
That's all they really are.
The magic of the moment has disappeared,
the smiles have faded away,
Time has moved on without you,
and you’ve been forgotten,
left behind once again.
So ask again what's wrong with me,
For the sun is shining outside,
Its a beautiful day,
And I have not a care in the world.
Well if you must know,
the truth is this.
I fear the nothingness of today,
The things I will and will not do,
Either way; it does not matter.
For nothing is quite memorable,
when I cant feel you beside me,
when I am without you.
Perhaps it is a sickness,
Both a blessing and a curse,
For love is very intricate,
very delicate, yet bold.
Without you I am nothing,
I exist, but my existence a waste,
Your lips I want to taste,
Reality I must face,
I feel so out of place.
Walk the earth alone,
I feel so desolate and far,
It feels wrong inside,
Like something’s missing.
And it’s not reasonable to expect,
that you can always be there,
that you could maybe care,
As I look at the world with blank stares.
And maybe because I see,
Things a little differently,
There’s a possibility,
that the world is breaking me.
I’ve ignored it for so long,
Because I didn’t want to belong,
To a part of something wrong,
So I continued to sing my own song.
But I cant help now but feel,
That this world could be so real,
There are wounds yet left to heal.
Maybe a hug could pick me up,
But only temporarily so,
For I do not know,
Which way am I to go.
Decisions always faced,
Moods fluctuate like the temperature,
Pain has been erased,
But I feel I have nothing to define me anymore.
Who am I?
What have I done that matters?
Where am I going?
What am I doing?
And why am I doing it!
Why why why!
Indeed I ask myself this.
But I realize that the object of this game,
is not to know why....
So here I remain,
With precious moments,
and opportunities passing me bye,
Sometimes I cant help but cry,
When my life is at a standstill.....

i found this to be a rather intricate little poem.

the world breaking something as such,
how our minds we tend to wast,
for i must admit,
once you realize the joy of doing (seamingly) nothing,
that is the time to which one may come to understand.
