ben shakes his head

Topic: political

Cracker Jack bureaucrats stand proud
As those they serve scream loud,
And freedom disappears under securities cloud

They claim the government needs to snoop
Your phone, your computer, her come the intelligence troops
They seek to be inside every loop

From terrorism they claim to protect us,
And in the name of freedom they continue to press
Soon we will no longer have a way to seek redress

They want to know what you read
They want to know what you speak
They care not whose freedom they bleed
And they believe we have become meek

Under the banner of safety they push for more
They seek a step by step constitutional repeal to the core
An inch by inch shutting of freedoms door

It’s their own power they seek to feed
And their own personal greed
They precipitate this horrible misdeed

They already are finding out what you read
They already recruit those to tell them what you speak
They are already planning on what next to feed
I no longer smell freedom free, just a police state stink

Yes I can see it coming
The constitution is burning
The people are swallowing propaganda
Giving freedom for safety like its manna
The darkness encroaches a little bit at a time
Until you are too deep to realize how deep they have buried you in their grime

A wise man once told me the price of freedom is virtue. The less virtuous people are the more freedom must taken away to prevent people from abusing the freedom of others. Imagine a world where everyone was perfectly moral. We would all be completely free from the law because we would have no need for laws. Our own virtues would prevent us from abusing the freedom of others. Unfortunately this can never happen because man is horribly imperfect and immoral. So true freedom is nothing more than an unachievable dream. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for it. Instead of focusing so much on slowly revoking our freedom, the leaders of this country should be more concerned with promoting morals and virtue.

priceless viewpoint on our "freedom", or lack thereof... although, i do not believe i would choose to leave in another country, and am proud of our country, for the most part, i am concerned by the advances of "public safety" nonsense that "big brother" tells us is necessary, whilst they are really invading our privacy... excellent write...
