Chipping away at what doesn’t belong
Leaving what’s right
Removing what’s wrong
Finding the place that eases the heart
The heart of the poet
Who writes in the dark
Patiently touching the surface to feel
What must be removed
From what must be revealed
No longer concealed
And it must be relieving
No longer bitter or sad
When there’s much to remove
And there’s nothing to add
The fire that burns slowly, refusing to die
Has selected a place
That’s eluded the eye
There’s a part that is extra, and ready to go
In the diligent darkness
So patient and slow
And the ironic thing is you don't even know...
What the hell I'm talking about.

The style and flow to this I liked and I felt the air of sadness within the verse. Chipping away at what doesn't belong, such a profound statement. Though we all need to do this at times, within ourselves as well as our surroundings. Nicely done.
