~Couch Surfin' & Soul Searchin'~

Contributed by misfitme on Friday, 23rd March 2007 @ 07:48:33 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Couch surfin' & soul searchin'~

pass into yesterday

As pretending not to be lost~

we some how found our way...

Swimming against the tide~

in search of our own flow

Holding on for dear life~

we let each other go...

Far from those by abandoned~

we had both run away

In turn rejecting acceptance~

we met as kindred strays...

Joined for a time that stood still~

allowing us to grow

Beyond who never we were~

into such selves as we could know...

Changing our silent screams~

into something to say

And us in each others arms~

from who first in them lay...

Attempting to get higher~

than ever were brought low

Furthering the shine of eyes~

which knew not of their own glow...

While within one another~

we could from all else hide

Even the ghosts which haunted~

what beneath our fears lied...

We slept in a dry creek bed~

blanketed by the stars

And experienced a peace~

if not whole, at least ours...

wonderful style of writing, simple yet smooth flowing words. particularly;

"While within one another~
we could from all else hide
Even the ghosts which haunted~
what beneath our fears lied..."

GREAT INDEED.

Oh, my dear poetsis .. this is an incredible depth inspired write.
I, too, was reminded of my very own past and the
influences that led me to where I am today.

I more than loved this line..

Beyond who we never were~

Holy wow. There is an intentional meaning in that line that
speaks to me. It brings a nostalgic calm, but also a question
into my heart. Wonderfully emotive, hun.

stirring ~

It is not enough to Know. We need to apply what we know, to realize the meaning of our personal truth in joyful action with cosmic laws which are the invisible roots of our actions, our development and creation of life. We can ignore them, but we can also occasionally refer to them to correct our thinking or feeling:

"...As pretending not to be lost~

we some how found our way..."

Whole generations can learn from this one line.

Bravo
AJ

This is a beauty, a treasure to be hold to be sure. I simply read it and read it and got lost in it. I would have cut and pasted some of your lines like i do in the comment but as i read it i was just swepted away and left breathless, by the whole poem. Tottaly overwhelming you are. Such a unique style, and such a gifted writter. Lovely work Kerry, always a treat to delve into your poetry my friend.
