She complains of bitterness and how love has overlooked her.
She disguised herself as pain and tried to fool me.
Although immature, she claims wisdom beyond her years.
Painseeking is her hobby and she says she is bound
not to be freed.
Lies consume her like the fire she has ignited.
Expecting me to quench her thirst and douse the fire, I abandon the lie that is now my best friend.
Revealing herself, she is afraid to do, but even more petrified to wallow in her mess.
Around her she wears her lies as if they were trophies, even worse, as if it were a dress!
Her mask of sorrow fools no one.

I was taught by those much wiser than me that the people who are closest to you are your mirror...it is a very scary thought..because what you see in another...you have in yourself...now caution here because sometimes they are the extreme oposite to you...which means they came to you to balance out that extreme...so this poem is very insightful to who YOU might be. It requires rigorous honesty to assess who you are as a result of knowing this person. Just a thought on your write...which I did enjoy. There is so much wisdom in poetry. |
