The Witch Hunt

Contributed by jerseysue on Tuesday, 20th March 2007 @ 03:35:38 AM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

They have took me captive
They have imprisoned me
No more a chance or reason
To be the person who I be

They threaten me with the gallows
They shout how I am wrong
They took all of my confidence
Where once I was so strong

And when they question me
They try so hard to make me falter
And when I become bamboozled
They strap me to this altar

They taunt me with venomous tongue
They tear my goodness apart
And when I do not answer
They pierce my breaking heart

With knife so sharp they tear through me
And I am afraid they now succeed
For my soul destroyed, my senses lost
My broken heart it now doth bleed

They hunted me for no good reason
I am at a loss why they picked me
Now I face death with crying eyes.
By those who hunted me

So with eyes of good I stare at them
To see a sign of care and compassion
But all I see is hatred and greed
And once again my back they are thrashing

I am weak, my strength has gone
I am ready to face the gallows
I have no doubt, the truth will out
To those who thought me shallow

So a witch they say that I am
I will hang today they say
And all of those who blamed me
I am sure will have their day

A good bewitching moment of internal thought of how they tortured those with any spirit at all.
