When all is gone
And there's nothing left
to see, to hear, to touch
Imagination ran away
again, to come another day?
And all the promises of the day
Lining themselves up
Like so many empty cups
To taunt the lips
And seal the deal
To take the moments
You could steal
I see you walk by
I sit and talk
I still contend
It's not my fault
I see you walk away
I watch and sit
I try not to think
You hypocrite
Your golden moment
Coming down to
Sitting and waiting
On the other shoe
Swallowed by that shadow
You choke in place
Trying to act immortal
In what you call grace
I dress in pride
And shrug you off
Forgetting everything
In all these thoughts
