What did the moon say,
Before you went to sleep?
Did it kiss you on the forehead,
Make you start to weep?
If none of this is true,
Let’s talk about your dreams,
Were they nightmares or were they sweet?
Were they like candy spread at your feet?
Picking each one,
Saving the best for last.
Waking with memory,
Clear as glass,
Of the nicest dream you’ve ever had,
Clouds and flowers,
And stuff like that.
Or did you have a rougher time?
Bedtime poem didn’t quite rhyme?
Did you dream of monsters or blood or gore,
Have you seen that stuff before?
If not,
Don’t worry,
It’s nothing you should be in a rush or hurry,
To take in sight,
For your mind is right,
Precious as the sun,
And brighter than it too.
For you are my daughter,
And I love you.

This is beautiful, such lovely sentiments. i like the element of nursery rhymes and monsters mixed in with images such as 'waking with memory, clear as glass' that are just stunning!
Great job,
Dom |
