Walking in the Abbey

Great crescent-shaped swathes of daffodils
Arc and swoop gracefully down the slope.
The pathway flanked by flotillas of crocuses
Curving down to the wind-combed lake.
Dark, quiet walkways untouched
Save for chattering birds and the fragrant damp
Clinging to the trees and moss-covered earth.
On the banks by the Abbey, crumbling now,
Delicate posies of primroses
Push through a bed of fallen catkins
Thriving in cool shade beneath the trees.
Clouds race gaily across the sky,
Hush, gently the wind closes my eyes.
O! joy to the world that such places exist
And that peace fills my heart once again.

Your poem was so SO visual that perhaps I was there. Oh how I wish to be.
I can glimpse the daffodils and crocuses!
This is breathtaking and I believe your pen has painted an elegant, visual - one of a kind.
Your descriptions are simply mesmerizing.
Very high praise for this one.
