Valid complaints in my head tell my heart
Not to stay too long or get too close
My head knows what consequences await
My foolish heart that’s so exposed
Expecting love to conquer all
Planting words like lovers seeds
Across your brow the ashes spread
Chaining you to love that’s dead
Sleepless night in love’s abandoned grave
A single flame I light for you
Some comfort in such little hope
Springs the dream of eternal
We’ve traversed the universe
Starved and stranded by the grave
Thirsty for passion we yearn
To touch what we cannot have
Nor hold until the morning light
Daring not to trust in dreams
