When you leave me
And I have no one to cradle
My head in the peaceful
Darkness of night.
I will be lonely.
But when I need you,
I can summon your smile
From memory.
And recall our days of love and laughter
Then, in my mind I will construct
A stage.
Where I will review our memories from
Beginning to end, holding your hand, touching your cheek and doing all the things that love is made of.
But one day your smile will fade, and memories will not be clear.
Then, shrouded in darkness I will slowly take apart my stage, and with the wood I will build a casket around my heart.
