Writing

Topic: oops

Am I a writer...
Or just a joke?
I take my pen...
I write a note.
I do love poetry,
To write, to read.
For when I write,
I fullfil a need.
A need to be free,
A need to release
My innermost thoughts,
My personal pleads.
Does anyone know,
Just what my words mean?
They are my truth,
So clear, yet unseen.
If just one person understands
The way I feel with pen in hand...
Then I've done something worthwhile,
Something special, something grand.
I'll continue writing,
Though I'm full of doubt.
I'll plant seeds with my words...
And watch to see what sprouts.

This didn't need to rhyme, and in a few places, you added extra words in to keep/break your meter, but that kind of made it awkward to read in parts. You have on this site an enormous forum of poets and you can see exactly how many readers you've touched through the comments and ratings you receive. Every poet is entitled to writing a poem about writer's block every now and then, but I think you'd be much stronger writing about light-hearted, fun things. I bet you're good at making people smile, whether you know it or not. Keep it up.

BZ.

I know how you feel. Sometimes I have to wonder if I am truly a poet or do others silently mock my writings but on the surface, they sing prases? I guess only time will tell for the both of us. Great write!

Hi Sena,

I think this is perhaps my favourite of your poems. I am wondering if you might be able to use a word less old fashioned than 'wrath' as all the other words are more modern, but then I guess it is partly chosen due to the rhyming scheme.

Don't be detered by whoever commented by saying it was simply a poem about 'writer's block'. For me it is a lot more. i didn't think this was a particularly unhappy, negative poem, that's not the way I understood it...I think that the moment one holds a pen and contemplates a blank page there comes this moment when one can meditate and ponder one's identity, see the comic side, and the uncertainty of what will follow and relish all these things. . For me this moment is a precious moment and probably why I come back to writing time and time again...Your poem puts all this into words for me in a subsinct eloquent way. Cheers.
