Alive

Contributed by Stalkee on Tuesday, 25th February 2003 @ 09:40:00 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

If you think I'm feeling sorry for myself cause I don't have a love
And if you think I'm just a fool, not feeling very alive
Well then you had better think once again
Because now I'm feeling more alive then ever before
Instead of just sitting around, dreaming of love that won't come
Now I'll go hang out by some stores, maybe catch a movie or two
If thats what it takes to make me feel ok

I used to always have so many worries, as many as a working man has
But now I don't worry about anything, I just relax and enjoy this life
Cause you're only going to live once
So lets not blow it by worrying about the small things
And I never used to feel the fire in the music when it played
But now I start to feel so alive when the rock and roll plays
And I found that music is what cures the soul

I've found you can get more pleasure from a bad thing
Then you can get from a million good things
And I found that I hang on to the bad days more than the really good ones
I found that those days made me learn something new
Something that I can never be able to learn from school
Now I think I'm gonna go outside turn up the music very high
And my doesn't time fly when you are loving life

I like this poem a lot. There is an irrefutable truth in it. That is- from pain and failure come the learning of valuable life lessons. An example is poetry. Some of the most beautiful poetry ( like this poem) is inspired by pain. Like children we learn, “Ouch” that hurt. I ‘ll do it better next time. It's not the words that make poetry great, it is the premise that resonates in others hearts. Well done !---Russ

Wow! I really really enjoyed this! Music is the cure, you've got that right. Keep on loving life and never forget that feeling!

Seems like most of the poem is about leaving the bad things behind and enjoying the good things -- then it reverses at the end and says there is more pleasure in a bad thing than a million good things. I think I know what you're trying to say, but I don't think you've quite said it yet... I don't think pleasure's really the right work either. Keep writing!
