Betrayal’s My Best Friend

Can someone take this knife
And remove it from my back?
Actually, with a second thought
Leave it there, plunge it in
Deeper, deeper
I like it where it’s at
A reminder protruding from
For trust is just a word
Trusting anything paints a target
On your back,
This I’ve learned time and time again
Always I’ve removed the knife
And continued on,
But not this time,
It shall stay resting
To remind me how cruel
This world truly is
And that if you open
Yourself to anything
Then betrayal shall come,
Knocking on your door,
Knife in hand and an evil grin

A powerful write. It's really full of emotion. Sadly, too many of us know what it's like to be stabbed in the back like that. Keep up the good work. |
