The Foundling

Contributed by Elizabeth_Dandy on Tuesday, 13th March 2007 @ 05:01:01 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

What child, what lovely child this little boy!
All smiles and eagerness in radiance,
To watch him at his play is purest joy,
And gifted he's with great intelligence.

They say it's Mrs. Huber's boy,- her son,
She brought him up wit love and tenderness,
But others say, she's not his real mom,
The people gossip but they only guess.

A lucky woman she,- the boy is bright,
Creative too and very talented,
Life promises he'll make is far alright,
He's bubbling over like a water shed.

He does not seem to have a family,
His zest for life is great, he's kind and gay,
And throws his balls with great dexterity,
He treasures every minute like of the day.

True, Mrs. Huber gave him so much love,
Alhough he is not of her flesh and blood,
But the investment flowered and paid off,
As love and deep affection surely would.

A birth day party like the othe kids,
He does not celebrate and gossip ran
Some chap at random lifting up the lids
Did find him wimpering in a garbage can.

Imagery inspired from the emotional immediacy of the characters' and their situation. This piece takes me to a time when I wanted to be 'cookie monster.' The novel, writer and poet have many accolades.

Well Done

Peace
