In The Calmness Of Night

Contributed by hgillila on Tuesday, 13th March 2007 @ 01:47:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

The sun sets into the earth
Turning the sky different reds and purples
Life is settling for the night
Everything slowing down as light fades

In the silence, raging so loudly
I let my mind wander to you
A subject I try to avoid
A regret I try not to relive

I cry while the world sleeps
For the person you could have been
And the woman I could have become
Had the circumstances been right

Tears begin to wet my cheeks
As I let myself mourn you
Someone I never allowed myself to love
A light I refused to let shine

When night falls, and the stars shine
I let my bravado melt
And in the sanctuary of lonliness
Bleed for the loss of your life and my innocence

OMG Wow what a powerful and personal write. I am in tears for you as few but those who can know what the reality of childbearing is and why 'laws' cannot transgress on the terrain of a womens flesh.
A thousand blessings to you and thank you oh bravely done and thank you again for sharing this here. May it shed a light on that which leads to such potentials especially for the young ones here. In my immodest opinion whatever we are, in the big picture of things, right here, in your post, exists the struggle with the sanctity of life.

Healing & Peace

I am in complete agreement with the comments here .. so very
brave and fortitudinous of you to share your pain in this .. terrible loss. I
wish for no one to have to feel the pain of this kind of regret .. it's got
to be excruiciating. I wish you peace, my friend. And not just for you,
but for those around you, whom you love and love you. When regret is
harboured in our hearts, it takes up a lot of space and doesn't allow
us to fully love to our potential. Forgive yourself ... it is the single-most
compassionate act of kindness we can afford ourselves.

Beautiful work. Painfully sad ~
