Mummy's gone out to the store
The boys got coke and cake
Jemma comming through the door
does a double take
Little sister knows quite well
the fridge is "Out of bounds!"
Matthew says "If you don't tell
we'll give you two whole pounds.........."
Mummy's key turns in the lock
Jemma runs to "squeal"
Matt and Luke are "In the dock
and there's no appeal!"
Both "thieves" clear off out the back
to escape the "reckoning"
Mum appears......(It's looking black!)
stands there quietly beckoning.
"Mum we were so hungry.......
(trembling they stand.......)
"Never mind that you two
Mummy needs a hand!"
NEVER MIND THAT YOU TWO....
dispels their dreadful fears
Luke thinks that it can't be true
Matt is close to tears.
"Luke you wash the dishes,
Matt you lay the table."
Nothing said about the fridge
Boys work fast as able!
Mum is thinking on her feet
about a confrontation
got to find a way to beat
an awkward situation
Seems that little sisters
blackmailing or worse
sure to make her brothers
treat her like a curse
Got to play it clever
turn the screw a bit
so they know they never
got away with it.
"You two won't be hungry
won't want any tea
go straight up and do your rooms
I'll be up to see."
Turns to look for "attitude"
in her little "sirs"
seems it's more like "gratitude"
as they scamper up the stairs

this series of rhyme
is straight out of time
children all over
the same, how clever
sad i am to the end of this tale
but grateful to read it, it never grows stale

I think I'll have to change the last line
The reason is that everythings fine
When told to go
without a sound
they were off so fast
before mum could turn round

OK then LadyDeeeee
See how you worry meeee
I rush off all "Hell bent"
'cos of sumthin' you never meant
All right , all right, dry your eyes
I think you'll like my new one "Lies?"
When Mick gets round to posting it
perhaps we'll have to wait a bit.

Terry, sorry to be so slow in replying to your
appreciative comment. Actually I had not thought of the description "commentary story"
which of course it is!!!!
In fact the whole thing started with the first poem I submitted, developed into a Husbads and Wives series 1-8 and continued on with the children, rather a long commentary.
Glad you enjoyed it,. I'll make a point of visiting your page as the day goes on. |

Val, I was sure I had replied to this because I remember the "grey hair" bit. But there's nothing yjere so I must have pressed (or not pressed ) the wrong button.
Also been having eye trouble but good news at the Hospital yesterday it's nothing they can't fix with laser treatment (on the 26th).
I've been finding the typeface hard going on YPDC. |
