I be the shadow
of youth
the dark side
of laughter.
My calling
comes only
by spring.
There you be
my brother.

elle,
The first four lines have an addictive element for me. They bend the mind. They twist and contort the status quo. Shadow and youth/dark side and laughter. Ominous depths struggle against superficial delights. These are concepts that rarely share the same phrase, and yet they describe just about every aspect of life. Two sides to every coin, day and night, life and death, joy and sorrow, love and hate. Those first four lines just won't quit! They are delightful and are easy to incorporate into my experience. They take me thousands of miles on a thimble full of gas. Then, BANG! Not just a brick wall, but a granite mountain! The next three lines demand every muscle, every neuron, every bit of my experience to grasp and yet my understanding is incomplete.
Sorry, the server stopped me at this point. I put the rest in an e-mail.
