Travel Back in Time with Me

Topic: DreamsandWishes

Travel back in time with me,
When life was so simple and we were free
To run and play without a care.
Do you remember being there?

Remember climbing up a tree,
Riding your bike, skinning your knee,
Wearing a skate key around your neck?
Do you remember? Or did you forget?

There were summer nights in the backyard
Catching fireflies in a mayonnaise jar,
Playing hide and seek until your Mom called you in.
There was nothing to fear at all, back then.

You could leave your windows open at night,
Lie in bed, while the pale moonlight
Cast shadows on objects in your room
And summertime smells were like sweet perfume.

Just close your eyes, let your mind be free
To take this little trip with me.
We’ll travel light, we’re not going to stay.
It’s just a short visit, it’s better that way.

For memories are part illusion, you know.
We’ll visit the good times and let the bad go.
So, travel back in time with me,
When life seemed so simple and carefree.

This was very gentle and sweet ... I have wonderful memories of childhood .. but I wouldn't want to go back in time .. I love the present too much and hope the future holds more .... but sometimes I wish people would remember the innocent times we had ... and bring that back into our lives again ... hey ho ..

Lovely write tho

For this poem's simplicity and directness, I loved it. As I read, I checked "yes" to every one. It's amazing, the power words have to make us remember. Great write!
