Lay Down and Die

Topic: toughstuff

Every time I try
To get away
From you people
With your words
Echoing in my ears
You grab my ankles
And hold me back.

I don't need
Someone to hold me down.
I don't need
Someone to push me around.
You're always dreaming to have me
You're always restraining me.
But I'm not
Gonna lay down and die.

Every time I think
There are no
More ways to
Hurt me
Getting inside my head
You find another way
To bring me down.

I don't need
Someone to act profound
I don't need
Someone to kick me around.
You're always seeming to want me
You're always draining me.
But I'm not
Gonna lay down and die.

Stop screaming at me
Stop trying to control me
Stop leaning towards free
Stop patrolling me!
You're letting me down
Forgetting to frown
You're forcing me to drown
With no sound.

But I'm not gonna lay down and die
I'm not taking it anymore
I'm not going to say I didn't try
I'm not gonna let you ignore.

I'm not
Going to
Lay down
And die.

This was agood. I liked it. It had this sort of lyrical note about it. As if these were song lyrics. This was well written. Great poem.

Keep fighting
Take care
