The first summer I found them darting about
It startled me some I near gave a shout.
I headed to town to grab them a threat
I’m sure macadamias are healthy to eat.
I bought a big bag and fed quite a few,
Here lies the problem, now what do I do?
They got very bold as they collected their stash
Coming from angles in a haphazard dash.
No time for greeting or cordial goodbye
Just delirious greed from their macadamia eyes.
Well the bag finally emptied, that should have been it,
There at the table they continued to sit.
They stayed until nightfall until they relented.
Now all my chipmunks are specially scented.

Loved that ... a great chuckle ...
I think I may have noted an err the spelling variety ... "to grab them a threat" ... the "H" wasn't 'posed ta be there ... was it ?
I read twice ... didn't even see it the second time ... Wonderful meter here

Smiling wide brimmed I first thought of Alvin's Christmas in Hawaiian.
I used to live in the back woods and my favorite morning show was the black squirrels which just floated as they leaped but the tight truculent chipmunk would come and bully them all way and all it would take was one.

Ahh, needle, they ain't really punks. If they are, they're precious punks. Our El Morro chippies like chestnuts roasted on an open fire. Cooled off, of course. Your piece made me smile --- knowingly.
