Seeking Solace

Grief
|
Can you hear me cry out
from this desecrated place?
A mystery upholds the fear
that brings anguish to my face.
I feel the fear like the blood
that runs through my aching veins,
grasping with a choke hold
that bathes me in disdain.
Sometimes I get that feeling
where I can barely stand,
and there you are, grinning,
with a switchblade in your hand.
You slit my throat from behind,
and cling to my neck. Still
you wrestle me down to the floor,
and force feed me this pill.
And I bleed, and I choke,
and I cry as I die,
while you swim a river
of laughter deep inside.
