Jetty Ghost

Contributed by Franciswolf on Monday, 5th March 2007 @ 09:21:06 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

In my town there’s a jetty where an old man drowned
He had a note in his pocket and some things on the ground
And his car was left on, with the sixties greatest hits marathon
Drifting static choruses of summers on the beach

And I saw his ghost close by hanging between a roof and flagpole
It was all so clear and eerie as he offered his soul
His figure changed colors from the flashes of a remote control
That was pressed away changing stations from the home below

Sing Mr. Saunder you drove here alone
Your kids in the freezer and your life’s on the phone
When streetlights turn on as I walk in the dark
I feel more empty with each brighten spark

It’s said if you offer him a lighter conversation
Then asking why or when that his death happened
He’ll be so much more willing to having you listen
If you’re true he’ll sing for you

So is the fact for us all as we fall on our feet
Of what’s non-fiction in the ways of deceit
I’ll never hear his cries at night as we meet
He’ll just nod my way as the moon rolls pass

Sing Mr. Saunder you drove here alone
Your kids in the freezer and your life’s on the phone
When streetlights turn on as I walk in the dark
I feel more empty with each brighten spark

And if you hear him I fear the jokes on you
No whispers on the breeze can save this avenue
You can deny what you’ve heard but you know what is true
Your problems live on till you solve them

The best thing we’ve done is turned this radio loud
Brought a riot to town or embraced a crowd
Just so he knows and never sings so proud
No, he doesn’t sing then, he screams, he screams

Sing Mr. Saunder you drove here alone
Your kids in the freezer and your life’s on the phone
When streetlights turn on as I walk in the dark
I feel more empty with each brighten spark

I started trippin balls on this seeing colored lights and hearing a Syd Barrett Pink Floyd-esque melody. However upon clarity this felt all to true and creepy sad.

Well Done

Peace
Yang
