Quest - part lll

Topic: fantasy

==================================

The waters poison ; there's no food.
Lest you linger in your pain ;
I offer you a quick demise
unless you fools should have a mage.

We do , the heros stated boldly.
What would you now ask of us?
Courage , the dragon almost yelled.
Courage and a little trust.

Upon my neck's a golden scale.
Take your swords and pry it loose
'Neath the scale you'll find a spell.
and find that spell is hard to use.

The wizard left it here for me
should I find myself awake
by some chance or dark deception.
This would help me to escape.

It takes a man of clever power
to read the words and cast the spell.
I am blinded by the years
or I would long have freed myself.

The heros soon had formed a circle
crouching down beneath the torch.
The mage absorbed the ancient writing
hoping soon to know the course.

After long and fruitless hours
the mage cracked a knowing grin ;
ran to draw a massive circle
and put the dragon's foot therein.

He read the words of ancient power.
and the walls began to shake.
At his signal the dragon stomped
the circle that the mage had made.

As he did a chasm opened
in the earth above his head.
With the heros 'pon his back
he crawled from the canyon bed.

Soon he came to cast his shadow
'pon the necromancer's hall.
Feel my power , said the dragon.
Know that I am now your god.

The dark one cursed and sent his horde
but heros guide the dragon's eyes.
Soon the armies lie in ruin.
The necromancer is confined.

The dragon speaks unto our heros.
Your quest has now come to the end.
Take his magic , you have earned it ,
and resurrect your dearest friend.

So they shall and all is well
though times of peril soon arise
yet ever onward they shall travel
with one more friend to help them fight.
==================================
The End.
