A hidden place

The lonely dry fields lay before him
Calling to him softly
What draws him to this secret place?
Who has put him in this hole?
Looking round he remembers how
Rose like flowers grow among the tall grasses
Skeleton, withered, and dwarfed trees
A flash before him
Brings the morning light
To squint and squeeze his eyes from sleep
just so he can see
A tiny singing yellow bird sits atop the dusty sill
Chirping, singing happily
What can I possibly do?
Water
Cracks a outstretched hand
As it reaches through the darkness
Running searching for a bucket
That can be lowered down.
Then slowly
His filthy head emerges
From beneath a dirt encrusted blanket
Sunlight stung and burned
What seemed foreign to his eyes.
When no ones looking ,
He finally said
III slip back with food and some drink
III hid them it my napkin and III keep it on my lap
And when my father turns his head
III slip some more in
The story goes that there were two twins
One born and was viewed as normal
While the twin was viewed as inept
Could his own father been apart
of having put him there?
Supposing he wood die
Yet someone else did see
Knowing about this secret place
And Kept the baby safe all this time?
But as luck would have it
His own kin had discovered it.
Climbing down the hole to see
And gaze upon this face
Seeing the sins of
Our common fathers
By the questioning tortured look upon his face
But that was not the case
The child in the hole is captive
His ankles chained therein
Because of Political,
Suicidal,
Idiotic
Beliefs.
Using a Child as a Bartering tool
Yet the Village, town or Country goes on
With its daily living
And acts as if
Nothings wrong
A dark secret hidden deep
Was stumbled upon by mistake

A powerful blend of emotion and insight in this story of survival and pain. A kind of Iron Mask tale.
Well Done
