THE MORTAL

Contributed by FRANCO on Tuesday, 27th February 2007 @ 06:49:18 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

They call thee the king of all earthly species,
mirror reflection of the immortal specie,
you wandered away to claim a million gains,
innovated device to predict rain. So I hear; you pacify
bitter agonizing pain, ‘nd foresee unborn gender perhaps
a scientific milestone yet I consider it to an egoistic blender.

Inventions hundreds to mention,
life you cloned to play The Invincible
above, forgetting thy mortal self and leaped
to conquer the moon and above. With thy entire
desperate endeavor, you failed to arrest
that moment of silence in life, never could become
an immortal, mortal you were and shall be.

When dark shadow of death stealth quietly to snuff thee;
you lay helpless like a human that you ever be.
-FRANCO-

Mayhaps, we have abused the idea of humanity to the point...that we feel the need to live beyond the definition now worn by the name, 'Human'...? Just a thought...a sad thought, but, still...

Deep & I Love It!

wow ..Franco .. I feel so much in this.

I have, too, felt the sentiments which lie herein.
There is no real way to convey, a lesson in mortal life,
methinks. We must all, by trial and error, learn and
live and grow. Only then we can move forward ..

Excellent write, my friend. A wealth of emotion ~

We as 'humans' have gone overboard on so many occasions. There are so many, who in their arrogance, firmly believe that they are, indeed 'Invincible'.

Excellent write! You've lucidly exposed the tru fragility of the human race in spite of having the wall of technology to hide it.

Great Job...yes we can do so much to convince ourselves we are immortal...only to stare death in the face time and time again..our only time of immortality is knowing it wasn't us today.....Thanks Franco

A well balanced and thought provoking piece but death is not a supernatural process. It adheres to mechanical laws than can be learned and halted. I firmly believe that stem cell research and genetics will enable us to live forever and to never get sick or age. Over population will not be a problem either as the universe is busting at the seems with Earth like planets and covering the distances is solved by ships that collapse the space the separates us from our destinations?
