The Smitten Kitten

Contributed by sena on Monday, 26th February 2007 @ 06:30:31 PM in AEST
Topic: PetPoems

I named him Kit.
Like the car in Knight Rider.
A little black and white stray;
Who wanted so much to be an insider.
He came up to me,
Late one night.
Did he sense my loss?
Perhaps my sadness in his sight?
My affection,
He begged.
His fur was warm,
As he lay on my legs.
As if to say I love you,
He continuously purred.
But he's just a cat,
Can't say a word.
Perhaps he was a little angel;
For whilst I petted him,
I stopped crying.
I didn't think about lost love,
Or relationships dying.
I named him Kit.
We're both strays.
Part of me is no longer lost,
Since he decided to stay.

Incredibly endearing write we have here & although, more of a dog person myself...I completely understand the magical affinity one can experience w/ an animal. Almost like a therapeutic trance can be the practice of petting*wink*
