Great Leader...

Contributed by TheMadGerman on Monday, 24th February 2003 @ 12:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: political

This crusade of yours...
this war you’re creating for my son...
spare me but a moment great leader.
Speak to me of your reasons.

Is it for my greater safety?
Have you decided to imperil my son to protect me?
Do you think me so callous
that I would accept such selfish reasons?
Or are you so callous
that selfish reasoning seems acceptable?

Is it to free a nation?
To liberate oppressed masses from an evil dictator;
in accordance with your own dicatates?
Or shall my son merely liberate their oil?
Would you dictate such evil?
Or was there already an evil living within you
waiting to create such dictates?

Is it to build an empire...
as compelled by a madness which shadows men of power,
as would that same mad tyrant
against whose army you wish to send my son.
Tell me which comes first great leader
Is it madness which drives men like you to power
or power which drives them mad?

This only child of mine.....
Far better than the crusade you’ve destined for him..
foolish though and rash in his decisions.
I fear he may trust you...
