I had a dream last night:
it was me
and you
together.
Somehow... I talked to your father,
he responded - like he hasn't before,
we talked about things and places,
people and faces.
Like we never did before.
I longed to see you,
but I had to leave.
I longed to talk to you,
but I couldn't breathe.
I longed to kiss you,
but it was a dream.

Heart tugging, this is. The more beautiful the dream, the more bittersweet it is, I think. For anyone who has suffered reality's return with the coming of dawn, those last lines will hit hard, I imagine.
