Can I Live?

Contributed by Grownbabygirl on Friday, 23rd February 2007 @ 06:39:03 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I'm a black and beautiful woman
and most importantly, I'm a mother.
Someone please tell me
what has gone wrong with our single brothers.

First we meet,
then you want to hit the sheets.
Afterwards, you barely call us anymore.
Is it because we BOTH acted like whores?
How can you knock me, when you did the same thing.

I know, I have alot to bring to the table.
Unfortunatley, yours was proven just to be a Fable.
Where are the real men who want to take it slow,
agree to a commitment and allow it to grow.

Where is the love, that geniune love?
The kind of love that made you feel so good
from the inside out.
Everybody is talking about sex,
I believe that is why half of our relationships turn into wrecks.

I keep thinking, is it something I'm doing wrong?
Is it my independence or am I too damn head strong?
Hell, why does my journey have to seem so long?
When am I going to find my Mr. Right?
Heaven only knows, because he is no where in sight.

Please don't take this the wrong way,
I don't need a man to feel complete,
Hell, I got half of them already beat.
Men tend to think the grass is greener on the other side,
little do they know, there are rules to all relationships,
that we must abide.

I want a real man in my life, I first want a companion, a friend,
Hell, I'm not even looking for a husband yet,
just someone to love me and only me, unconditionally.

I can so relate and I think most men and women can.
I do know that these men are very rare or already taken. Still I'd rather stay alone the rest of my life than go thru those kind again.
If ya find yours please fine out if he has a brother for me.
Big smiles, huggs,
emy
Oh yea you did a great job with this write. It can make a hit song.

This is a line from the movie lust for life as spoken by vincent van goh's brother theo van goh . . . and i quote " We all want to give and recieve love on our own terms only to wake up one morning and find it's too late to give or
recieve love, on any terms " . end quote. a lovely but all too familiar poem, reguarding a hurt that is so commonly inflicted in this day and age. Sorry for your pain.
