Nocturnal Melancholy

Contributed by FleurdeSang on Thursday, 22nd February 2007 @ 02:34:20 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

A single moon drop on withered parchment
Pen flaccid in my hand like a stubborn child
Images shed their panty hose with a slut's daintiness
Yet fugitive words are lodged in some deep, vengeful crevice...

I hear the mocking like a meteor's demise
Resounding in this supernova solitude
Of thick-shadowed night-
Of mourning rooms gossamer with web-covered memories...

Sorrow smiles with jagged teeth in my eyes
Ripping the gates wide like a buried sob
As I drown in the foam of your laughter
The oblivion of your kiss...

My head is filled with splintered nostalgia.

Ceaseless throbbing of a savage vein,
I touch it with sulfuric fingertips
And a wave of pestilent yearning fills my soul,
A corroding despair to conquer the horizon that yawns between us...

((I remember...))

The scent of you (all linen and fresh juniper)
Stained on my shivering, starfish hands,
Still sighing with your voice of midnight flowers
From when they last whispered to your angel skin...

((I remember...))

The butterfly dreams woven from your eyelashes
Giggling like star-crossed children on my cheek...
Your mouth fluttering along the atlas of my body like a timid spider,
Soundless 'I love yous' hiding in long, tender kisses...
Your arms draped around me like a reason for living...

((I remember...))

The sweet madness of your lips
Moist petals drinking from my willing mouth with infinite thirst,
Intoxicating tongue dancing lazily with mine...

And always-

The perfect destruction of your sapphire gaze,
As you undressed me with tremulous affection
Feeling you pulsing in my veins like God in a river...

~.~

Melancholy sleeps in my heart with no intention of waking
I sit like a moss-covered epitaph in the mortal light
Of a destitute candle,
The abyssal agony of your absence devouring
What mere crumbs of sanity

I do not possess...

... why I always return to your pages, you have a graceful knack of throwing words together that would seem odd elsewhere, perhaps even inappropriate, or unconventional ... but you always make them work. I very much appreciate that.

Nazzy ~

You have a way of ripping
feelings out of words and
throwing them upon the
page like you bled the emotion
directly onto it. I'm on the verge of
asking if I could use your poems
as lyrics in one of my songs.
Another poem of this magnitude
and doubt I could resist doing so.
Excellent work , Truly , Doug
