Girl vs. Mirror

Contributed by justagirl82 on Thursday, 22nd February 2007 @ 12:44:57 PM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

She sat, starring at the mirror
She saw an unknown face
She reached out and touched that face,
and only then realized it belonged to her.

She watched as tears cascaded down her face
And the blade slashed her already broken skin.
A mixture of blood and tears washed that skin
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that same girl sits and stares at that same mirror
But she doesn’t see the same girl
She watches as tears, once again, bathe her face
But these tears are not painful
These tears are different
Blood is not mixed with these tears
She sees the slight glimmer of a smile
Pride fills her heart
She will always have physical memories
But that’s not necessarily bad
They show what she went through to get to a better place
And that’s not bad,
Not bad at all
Excellent poem. truthful, you can't be helped until you see. And what may have been bad made you stronger, you use that to make you better.
Everyone looks in the mirror, but when times are strange you need to look into your eyes to find the answers to your lines.
