I wonder sometimes do I take for granted the very air I breath
As I gaze at the gifts of nature aided by the trees
Often I hear people complain, It's too hot , too cold, too dry!
Does even a single one of them think to question WHY?
I take for granted my sight a gift to see all around
Beauty, smiles, happiness,...... objects with no sound
I take for granted that I can hear, the birds that sing above
The giggles of my children, the laughter I so love
I take for granted that I can walk, outside, to parks, shops and friends
Walking almost anywhere, walks that never end
I take for granted that I can feel with my limbs,my feet and my hands
without them I wouldn't know hard or soft how would I understand?
I take for granted that I am alive, .............of course I think im SUPERWOMAN here to stay
When all that keeps my body going ,is a heart that beats away
I take for granted that I can eat, and drink and also sleep
But they are all gifts from God you see,bodily funtcions for us alive to keep
I take for granted those I love, that they will always be around
Take for granted friendships, even new ones I have found
I take for granted my freedom too, to do what, as, and when I please
I wonder how I'd truly feel.... if I hadn't any of these ?
So it appears I take so much for granted, I wonder does that make me bad?
I certainly know that in the past, without these things I'm sad
Except I DON'T take for granted really ANY OF THESE THINGS
I say a thank you prayer each day and see what each day brings
I want you to go away today, and REALISE, what GIFTS from God, we have been given
Then think real hard,... of how you used those gifts..... in the life that YOU are living
For we are here today by the GRACE of God, and we need a WAKE UP CALL
Or one day. ALL will be taken away and we won't exist atall .................

Malcolmsdreamgirl, You pen your words of art in a beautiful way as you reach out with lots to say. Speaking of reality, of life, and of love, sharing your blessing of poetry given by god above. To have this chance to read your work is such a pleasure because you give your readers many a keepsake treasure. I'm guilty, guilty, guilty....I too have had days of lack of gratitude...and once again am reminded that if you are unhappy with what is around you....YOU ATTACT MORE OF THE SAME.
One ounce of gratitude is the secret formula of change....but then you already know this...I like this thought provoking piece...thank you. |
