People watching

Contributed by Malcolmsdreamgirl on Thursday, 15th February 2007 @ 03:23:31 PM in AEST
Topic: Event

I walk into the coffee shop and place my order there
The cashier takes my money and gives me quite a stare
I wonder do I have black eyes from the make up that I wear
Or Good god, a little bogie of which Im not aware?

I rush over to my window seat, my favourite place to be
Even nicer than the soft settees, cos the people I like to see
You see I like to People Watch, well it isn't quite a crime
At least Im doing something , rather than just waste time..

I watch the people stroll past, oblivious that I'm there
And even if they did know it , probaly wouldn't give a care
Some walking past are rather large with face as long can be
Others tiny in all shape and form faces full of glee

I look at all the " partners " wondering how they ever met
So opposite in every way the dating sites a bet
Some walk a mile between the two as if theyre not together
Some cuddled up real close n warm tucked up in stormy weather.

I giggle sometimes to myself with how they dress and walk
who am I to judge them all. who am I to talk ?
I'm entitled to an opionion ,and I think Im rather kind
I'm sure as long as Im not mean, they really wouldn't mind

You see the younger couples, the kids running amock
The Dad is smoking walking fast, followed by his flock
The Mum looks all exhausted ,her hair all limp and greasy
With 5 kids under 6 years old, it sure well can't be easy

Half way thru my People watch, I realise the time
I have to go and get to work, steep hill too have to climb
Gosh how I enjoy watching people from all walks of life
Taking me into anothe world away from all this strife

It just goes to show it takes all kinds to make this world go round
Some mearly just existing, some not making any sound
Ill look out of that window with care and concentrate
Incase I see my friends on here, with whom I can relate.

Enjoyed reading this as I too am a people watcher. I used to sit in bus terminals and just watch the world go by like a movie. Good job.

I thought your poem was really
interesting and had an innocence
to it which made it quite lovely and
soothing. Very enjoyable. Truly , Doug

Malcolmsdreamgirl, I loved this poem and I would venture to say that everyone will since I think just about every person alive is a people watcher. People are funny at times when things go astray. This is great and I commend you for a poem very well done.
