Blinding Brightness

Contributed by psyonara on Sunday, 23rd February 2003 @ 11:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Inside many lights burn vividly
Attention is cast on another further away
People use the faces they were given
To perform acts of obsession for their heroes
But their heroes go on living, unaware

The door closes and someone leaves
Are there more lights outside for this soul
Maybe something shines for those who are lost
But the radiance isn't what it seemed to be
And the brightness once seen slowly fades away

Under the stars he sits close to a pond
Something keeps dripping to create circles of trust
He's trying to respond to these signs of mourning
But no tears fall from the two hollow eyes
And somewhere he hears laughing coming from the lights

There's a silent scream inside his heart
Can anyone hear the call for just a single day
From here there are so many stars looking down
But most of them shine into places with lights
And the darkness fills his mind with thoughts he hates

If you never look outside please close the curtains
There's someone out there who can't take the lights anymore
Deep inside a broken love bleeds as it weeps
But the sound of crying doesn't reach the world outside
Maybe it's because no one is around to hear him die again

How this masterpiece of emotion ever ended up on the least read list I will never know. It is a true gem of poetry my friend. Very well done. Larry
