Mama, please?

Topic: FamilyPoems

Mama, please...

Hey Mama...
Can you help me?
There's a monster in my closet
And he's screaming my name
And I'm too afraid to move
Until you say it's okay

But I won't cry no more
I'm just tattered and torn
And I'll walk one more step
Just, please, don't let me walk away

Hey Mama, can you hear me?
They're laughing at me again
And the names are ringing in my ears
Like flies feeding on dying optimism
But I'm too ashamed to look them in the eye
And I need you to take away the pain

But I won't cry no more
I'm just tattered and torn
But I'll take one more step
Just, please, don't let me walk away

And Mama, are you listening?
I walked the wrong way and they're all staring
Only now you're the one who won't wipe away the tears
What choice was wrong will never breathe again
But I need you to look at my face and love me like you did

And I won't cry no more
I'm just tattered and torn
And I'm losing my breath,
But I'll take one more step,
Just please don't walk away

Hey Mama, can you see?
The clergy lies and the smiles are so fake
Two joined hands just mean another mistake
I see you, the only one without plastered joy on your face
Don't tell me I'm wrong, just let me walk my own way
But please, just don't turn away

And I won't cry no more
I'm just tattered and torn
And the light's fading from my eyes
But I'm taking one more step
Just please, stop walking away

Mama, are you blind?
Everything is gone
All I have are my hands
To cradle what's left of my falling identity
And mama, they're still staring
And, my god, they're still crowded around my doorstep
Yelling over each other to tell me the choices I should have made
And I need you to just please come back to my door and make them go away.

And I won't cry no more
I'm just tattered and torn
And my last will is dying
But I took one more step
Just please tell me why you walked away.

Hey Mama, are you listening?
There's a monster down the hallway
And he's screaming my name
So loud that the clouds know my pain
And I'm so afraid to move
Until you tell me it's okay

Good.I think all humanity seeks the motherhood of comfort in our most fearful moments.
