NIGHT JOURNEY

Contributed by Varro on Sunday, 23rd February 2003 @ 08:40:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

At close of day, a languid spirit rests,
But restless mind needs tempest beat;
To walk the depths of the city night.
Up and out, down blocks of stone
To find where other strolling hearts abound,
And fill the night with playfulness.
Thus, drooping heart, now uplifted;
Intent on special escapades.
So into the night, most dev'lish fun
To nourish needful wants unfold.
No temp'rate joys on even tide,
That rarely ebb and flow;
The city speaks to countless souls
And beckons all to neon lights.
In summer's heat or winter's cold,
The taunts of city's boist'rous haunts
Lure cloister'd lives to alleys' back,
With ardour shows the way.
Journey out tonight and tread the
Broadest street to find a kindred soul.
Laugh amidst with frolic, and mirth to
Fill the night with boundless fun!

Thanks venkat. I think it is very important to have vivid imagry in poetry. It is essential because poetry is so emotional. I have a poem I will post soon about a murder in a back alley. I think I captured the stark picture of a sinister, rainy night under the el! I love film noir and enjoy detective yarns.
