Cannibal Canine

Contributed by misfitme on Saturday, 10th February 2007 @ 11:00:25 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Walking a thin line~

among the cannibal canine

While trying hard within their ranks to blend...

Tears in my eyes shine~

for this, "dog eat dog" race of mine

Which share a hunger, I can't pretend...

For the blind, I cry~

victims of, "an eye for an eye"

Suffering a fate long ago foretold...

Each self serving lie~

has left humanity to die

Except when for profit could be sold...

So, within I hide~

from what my spirit can't abide

And in this day & age has come to past...

The release I seek~

is one considered for the weak

As such in this life I've been cast...

Walking a thin line~
among the cannibal canine...

Often in our comments we have quoted others as we are deeply touched and accept that which impacts us for sharing.
This piece is a profound voice of an inner depth that surfaces sometimes to consumption. Grateful we are you have not plowed down: "...The release I seek~ is one considered for the weak..." and I would add cowardly. I am honored you shared this from your wellspring of creativity and experiences.

Dogs
by Pink Floyd

"You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need

You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street

You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes
closed

And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight

You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style

Like the club tie, and the firm handshake

A certain look in the eye, and an easy smile

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to

So that when they turn their backs on you

You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder

You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you
get older

And in the end you'll pack up, fly down south

Hide your head in the sand

Just another sad old man

All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest that you've
sown

And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to
stone

And it's too late to loose the weight you used to need to throw
around

So have a good drown, as you go down, alone

Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused

Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used

Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping
malaise

If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of
this maze?

Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending

That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend

And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the
winner

And everything's done under the sun

And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain

Who was trained not to spit in the fan

Who was told what to do by the man

Who was broken by trained personnel

Who was fitted with collar and chain

Who was given a pat on the back

Who was breaking away from the pack

Who was only a stranger at home

Who was ground down in the end

Who was found dead on the phone

Who was dragged down by the stone."

Perhaps this is why we domesticate them and lo they become loyal and our best friends.
Peace
AJ

The depth of this is outstanding and I feel this deeply. Yes in this life it is dog eat dog more so all the time. Seems one must stand tall or get eaten up. It is so easy to be caught in the crossfire when we are trying to do the right things isn't it?

My sweet MissyMe~
I echo AJ's sentiments on this one my dear friend. I, too am grateful you have not plowed down. It's a cruel doggy dog world out there and if we don't stand up for ourselves & be strong we get eaten alive. Such depth & true meaning throughout your write.
You are an outstanding writer who possesses such an incredible gift in writing.
Another top notch write. Keep 'em coming hun~
*poetic love, hugs n smiles* ur fan,

This poem is about as real as it's get. Dog eat dog? that's putting it mildy, lol. Again you have caprtured the true sence of a write that has an abundance of strenght in it's meaning and prtrayal of the world in which we live or i should say exzist . Quite compelling indeed. You are a most gifted writter, I enjoyed every word nice style you have also.

Missy, I don't think anyone's ever hit a home run ball a 1,000 yards but, if'n this was a home run ball, you done hit it three times that distance!!! This is such a beautifully penned observation and one comes away regretfully agreeing, but with no sense of agressive preaching being done, just realization and assertive pronouncement that it's not your game! Absolute masterpiece!
