If You Love Me Than Follow Me

Contributed by doug on Friday, 9th February 2007 @ 06:51:07 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Our perils are grave
and hope is not but a thin shred of light
but for God and for me and for all that is right
if you love me than follow me

You are tired and afraid
and I weep for the blood they have shed from your wounds
but give me your heart and I'll give mine for you
If you love me than follow me

This world is so hard.
It promises nothing yet I give to you
my tears , my life. This I promise you
so if you love me...

Raise this sword
against any and all who would tear us apart
though death be the test that has proven our hearts
If you love me than follow me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This poem is based upon a quote from
the movie The Messenger - The True Story of Joan of Arc
the quote is "Now, my brave soldiers... let those who
love me follow me.

Good quote choice. I wasn't entirely sure of this was a lover or a leader, and then I figured it was kind of both. Good Job

This is a wonderfully inspired piece! It makes the heart soar just reading along; I was hanging on to each line... I really like the stanza right here:

You are tired and afraid
and I weep for the blood they have shed from your wounds
but give me your heart and I'll give mine for you
If you love me than follow me

Such sweet sentiments; thanks for sharing this piece!

Exceptionally passionate, doug. A very heartstirring
piece through and through.

Your words grip a sentiment that moves the hearts of
your readers .. in as much as those beloved words by
a very brave woman so very long ago ...

Great post!

So to the depths of any earth one shall travel for love and belief of a cause...of course you will follow. Well done and a good question for many who only serve their own cause.
