Mixed Blessings

Contributed by spike on Monday, 5th February 2007 @ 03:49:31 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

damned with a moment of grace,
then like vapour you were gone
leaving a lover
your family
- the world.

I’ve tried prayer,
chants and meditation
to recreate that
bubble of bliss
however brief,
that we called US.

And I’ve sought solace
in the bottle
and the needle and the pipe,
while raging at your absence
and drowning in the
thick affections
of other lovers
- but it never

felt

the

same.

So I’m looking at a bullet in a
shiny copper jacket,
and wondering
if the peace
you found in demise
will be the
breadcrumbs
that lead
me back
to you.

An excellent heartfelt piece on loss and despair:

"... I’ve tried prayer,
chants and meditation
to recreate that
bubble of bliss
however brief,
that we called US..."

This piece provokes me to respond to the downward spiral seemingly attached to the loss of love. Work the bubble of bliss hold on for dear life as love in ascension transcends the wanton feelings and only way to hold on to the LOVE is to let go of what you lost.

Bravo

Peace
Yangdantien

This write immediately goose-pimpled me up. Too much familiar stuff in here. (this was me, years ago) Wanna talk about bravery, this is one hell of a brave write. I am always so impressed by your honesty. You throw it out there, heart and soul. Love that about you, my friend. Excellent write. Brutally honest.
(I can honestly say, life is better, but demons still haunt....fight like hell, man)
Peace and hugs,
Laura

****, Spikito. Potent.

I do concur with Laura's comments regarding the bravery and honesty presented here. But... to be frank... such things were not the first that came to mind. Structure, too, impressed me... (felt/the/same... yeh, entirely merited their own lines). Your opening line.... your impactful ending.... breadcrumbs.... the author's note, the category......... hell, it ALL hit, if you know what I mean. You 'got' me, though... with the capitalization and italicization of US. Damn. The awareness of your knowing the word (and "word" seems so wrong there) had to presented as it was.......... especially, in the context of everything else........ is truly what totaled me here. So much so that when I glanced back up at the title - it scared the hell out of me. Good God!... it is terrifying.

I cannot say that I can relate to this in any true sense (and right now I'm profoundly aware of how blessed I am for being able to say that). Like Karen, I find myself utterly without the ability to say anything real here. It is not, though, for lack of feeling or for absence of wishing that I cannot.... but rather, because of these things.

Hoping for peace in this world,
~Snemmy

My dear poet ... I am speechless ~

Unbelievable depth here .. and at the risk of sounding trite, unbelievable realness as
well. You have captured in words an emotion of undeniable torture, and incessant
madness. Many have tried, but VERY few have succeeded in achieving the mastery at
which you have brought us to be witness.

God .. I know .. I KNOW, I sound like an impossible silly school girl with a crush, but
this .. THIS is quite astounding, dear spike. I am so moved and affected by the words, (most
likely because I have felt this .. more than I would like to admit) But that you have
exacted this response, might well construe that you are a poet beyond gifted. Excellent!!

I do hope that this is not from experience .. but if it be, then I wish for you peace, my friend.
Also that you find the solace and love and comfort that you so deserve.

Stilled beyond ~

~Breezy

Mmm mm. This piece takes the reader through several phases of contemplation to the satisfaction
of solace, and then to the point of ... only one thing left! Dang good work, Spike!
