Just a Jacket

It is just a jacket,
But it has a life of its own,
It reaches into my heart,
It crumbles my insides to dust.
It is just a jacket,
But it is splendidly warm,
Wearing it around me,
I imagine your strong arms holding me.
It is just a jacket,
One of many you own,
But you gave it to me,
What does it mean?
It is just a jacket,
Is it meant to keep me warm?
So I won't get cold?
Or is it more than that?
It is just a jacket,
We are just friends,
You made that crystal clear,
But you gave me that jacket.
It is just a jacket,
And I am just a girl,
Who is in love with you,
Who cant go anywhere else.

I like this poem. I feel the same way about a blanket that was given to me. Excellent write. |
