Four Letters

Words, empty, dead, poor little words,
Those words, four letter words,
Love is just a word from your mouth,
When it comes from mine the truth is stays,
But others say love but it has no meaning to them,
So when I say it they believe it not,
Words, powerful, deceiving, foolish, strong words,
Those words, spoken but not lived,
Love is patient, sweet, and kind,
Keeping no record of wrongs nor time,
Words speaking un-forgiveness and mistrust,
There can be no love if there is no trust and forgiveness,
You’re the only I went back to,
Because you are the only one I have been in love with,
I never got over you though I tried and tried,
My heart never let me forget you,
But now I know,
Now I can let you go,
All I never saw comes to my eyes clearly now,
For it does not matter how much I love you,
The truth stays the same,
You are not good for me,
And from me happiness you would not find,
You do not trust, forgive, nor understand me,
So I finally kept my heart this time from pain,
I walked out and will never be the same,
Closed the door and did not look back,
My heart will be in love with you no longer,
Only a memory of a love once felt,
And what a foolish choice to love it was,
Yet that is the deal I have been dealt,
And the love I once felt but no longer shall it be so,
I have written this simply to let you know.

alison, yes in deed people use words for an advantage of power over others to gain some form of control which is sad as it makes it extremely hard for those that are truly sincere. I applaud you for a poem so wonderfully done and with such a real meaning that so many can actually relate to but will never hinder evilness. Thank you so much for sharing your love of poetry with us all and for giving us a little of yourself. Great poem.

great write I loved all the emotion that flowed through your words I have been there I know how it feels... so I almost felt the urge to cry. To be bale to portray such a strong sense of emotion makes you a great poet! beautifully said!
