The Birthday Rose

Contributed by lowman613 on Friday, 21st February 2003 @ 10:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: BirthdayPoems

Its morning now & your still not here,
You wont be till late I so fear,
Its ok,its just my birthday,
I did'nt have plans any way!
Just sitting at home waiting for you,
is pretty much all I ever do,
I know your trying hard to get home to me,
Theres a knock at the door, who could it be?
You sent me roses oh how sweet,
You didnt forget, a promise you did keep,
Its just another day alone I spend,
No calls from a special friend,
feeling selfish I do suppose,
But then I look at my birthday rose,
It all put a smile on my face,
made my day by your little grace,
To tell the truth, the best gift would have been,
Was to be able to hold you, I'll wait till then!

Such meloncholoy overtones, yet vivid and unfortunately realistic in many cases. Beautiful write.
