PERISH UPON THE ALTAR

PERISH UPON THE ALTAR

Let me perish upon the altar, being purged and purified in the glory of its eternal flame, calling on the Lord and the preciousness of His name-

Don’t allow me to leave as I came, but let me be redeemed, cleansed of all my sin and shame-

Walking with a new and fresh determination to fulfill God’s eternal plan, which He has predetermined for the obedient man-

Let my burning flesh be a sweet savory smell in Your nostrils, a symbol of my fervent worship and praise, which I give unto You-

I humble myself in the light and glow of its ever-glowing fire, calling upon the glory and power of Your goodness, mercy, and grace with all my passion and desire-

Let me perish upon the altar, being consumed and devoured by the glory of its eternal flame, calling on the Lord and the preciousness of His name-

Don’t allow me to leave as I came, full of darkness and profane, but let me be redeemed, full of peace and joy, and in Your grace and mercy highly esteemed-

Hear the beat of my heart, fill my soul with purpose and destiny, allow me to be and to become a man of honor and integrity-

For I seek to do Your will above all else, walking in the light of the gospel, filled with thanksgiving and joy, with the power to overcome him that comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy-

Let me perish upon the altar, being overcome by the power and the love of its eternal flame, calling on the Lord and the preciousness of His name-

Don’t let me leave as I came, full of desperation and despair, but let me be redeemed, favored in Your eyes and in Your grace, mercy, and goodness highly esteemed-

Allow my gratitude to come up before You as a memorial, blessing Your goodness, mercy and grace, which have been my tutorial-

Teaching me the ways of love in the beauty of holiness, as I bathe myself in its flames, and in the glory of its perfectiveness-

Dancing and rejoicing with joy and thanks-giving, making a joyful noise unto the glory and honor of the Lord-

-Always being delightful in His presence with one accord-

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
