I never stood a chance to know you, because you had already laid down the
foundation for my path, based on your past, you had already decided before I took
that walk with you,who I was and where I was headed ,you had already labeled
me,before you knew me you never saw me,you saw your past relationships,I
stood before you, in so many masked faces, you already knew what I was
about.

This is reminds me of the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. In trying to describe deep listening he captures a moment where a Dad is trying to communicate with his 14 yr old son and he laments "The kid just doesn't listen."
"Covey replies well neither are you?"
"Well I see where he is coming from and boy I could tell you stories..."
Covey stops him and says "Thats your autobiography, in order to get him to listen, you have to set the example, of seeking first to understand him before you are understood. This is done by deeply listening to him until he feels understood."
Please forgive as I find this a very stimulating piece my comment space exceeding the length of the poem itself.
Well Done
Peace
