The Fires of Desperation

The last candle in the room is dying.
I cling to it,
Because it is the only thing left I can see.
The flickering orb snuffs in, and out,
Enveloping me in brief darkness.
The demon presence is tangible,
Even clearer as they feed on the void
Where I threw my world.
The fear inside negates the resignation,
Someone throws tinder on the fire in my soul.
Just as first emptiness tinged my fingers
The candle blazed in re-born heat.
I sit here bricking out the demons and
Plugging up my ears
Until I clamber from black to greyscale; sepia,
Where my candle can only just be seen
Amongst the rest.
I could not go, I wasn’t ready, and there were
Too many hands pulling me back up.

This is a true master peice of writting, and you my friend are a real poet. very vivid, very relatable, Such emotional exposure of one's inner feelings, written to perfection and yet not intruding on the meaning of it all.
Thank you kindly also for your comment.

Oh my, DOM!!! I can't believe I missed this.
You trap emotion and play it so well, my friend.
The darkness in this is inescapable. Scary in the
worst way.
I found myself lost in the images, but happy at the
end that you were saved from those desperate fires.
Excellent, EXCELLENT write!
