Farewell to Romance

Contributed by stillstitch on Monday, 29th January 2007 @ 08:43:23 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

Your temple does not interest me
your god of caustic celluloid burning---
bubbling across the screen

The lines that once gripped
poured forth fluidly
as white wine from crystal

And I caught the weeping notes
in my cupped hands
their tinkling has faded now

In the shadow of
that merciful tree
lonely, silhouetted against the sky

How entirely this pulls at me.... pulling me, first, to your page with the thrill of seeing you post again... and then, pulling me away from the everything-else that had my attention just prior to reading the words found on this page. You, dear Stitchy, still impress me greatly and I do think always will.

What I love (as a reader) about this is that I can see it... I can see you in the moment that you've reflected here and and in the penning of this. 'Twas not a small moment nor a minor reflection, I'd guess. Farewells come of their own accord sometimes (bowing, perhaps, to Fate and Time's hands)... but not without impact ever. Our only option, then, is whether to pause and reflect upon them or to dart forward without pause - I frankly, prefer the later. And I do, most absolutely, find the expression of your pausing most admirable.

Well done, my friend. And yes (yes!), very nice to see you posting again.

Well hello Stich! Good to see you here. This poem reminds me of "What Dreams May Come" and her tree with the purple blooms. It's a reflection of sadness, as it seems. Blessings, J.

Oh my!

Gosh I've missed your writing.
This...this descriptive, imaginative, even cryptic piece leads me down so many diffrent paths. It's both sad and nastolgic, like looking at the memory of regret and not being fazed by it.
Welcome back. I hope we see more of you soon.
