Living in that cardboard box
Is a man I use to know
He use to have everything
But now he has no food or clothes
I see the man everyday
As I'm driving down the street
He walks around carrying that sign
To get some food to eat
I see him out there in the rain
Trying to find somewhere to hide
It makes me stop and think
Should I let him come inside
I see him out there trying to get a job
Because he has a family you know
He has a wife and children too
But that no one knows
I see him out there all alone
His family left his side
But he still loves them dearly
That's how he makes it through the nights
I see him out there every night
Looking up towards the sky
He thanks God for what he's given
And for never leaving his side
Living in that cardboard box
Is a man I use to know
You see he is my father
Or so that's what I'm told

Excellent in both story and rhyme this piece compliments a theme of poems recently initiated by 'deadheadpoet' et al.

I love the way this flows and rhymes so easy. It's very emotional and sad.. and I like the ending, the way you express the relationship. Nice job - Drapes |
